Approximately 50 years old and salvaged from Rajasthan, this unique travellers trunk is one of a kind here at the shop. It is fairly dark in colouring and it’s paint work has been worn by time and use. The Gujurati characters, mostly likely the name of an individual or business, on the front of the piece have been hand painted and are still mostly intact. The trunk still has it’s original metal handles and banding though the lockable clasp on it’s lid is new. The lift of the piece lifts up to reveal a large internal compartment and a wooden secret compartment that has suffered an ink stain on at some point during its lifetime. A piece that certainly has a story behind it and a bit of mystery, this trunk would work perfectly as a smaller blanket box or for storing precious items within.
